भारत कृषि प्रधान देश होने के बाद भी, कृषि लाभ के लिए किया जाने वाला व्यवसाय नहीं है बल्कि कृषि जीवन-यापन का एक साधन है। किसान को न तो समय पर उन्नत बीज मिल रहे हैं, न ही उर्वरक उपलब्ध हो पा रहा है और न ही पर्याप्त बिजली मिल रही है अर्थात् किसानों की सबसे बड़ी समस्या उसकी साधनहीनता है। ऐसी विपरीत परिस्थितियों में किसान कृषि कार्य करता है। गांव के गरीब किसान सम्पत्ति बनाने, रोजगार पाने, अपनी आय बढ़ाने या जीवन की गुणवत्ता सुधारने में विफल रहे हैं। आज गांवों में खुशहाली, हरियाली और समृद्धि लाने के लिए गांवों को आधुनिक विश्व बाजार से जोड़कर ही सफलता पायी जा सकती है। भूमंडलीकरण, उदारीकरण और औद्योगीकरण के इस उन्नत आधुनिक दौर में भी भारत का मुख्य व्यवसाय कृषि है।

India despite being an agrarian country, here agriculture is not a business for profit but agriculture is a means for livelihood.The farmer is neither getting improved seeds & fertiliser in time nor sufficient electricity. That is, lack of resources is the biggest problem of the farmers.In such adversity, the farmer performs agriculture works.The poor farmers of the village have failed to build property, get employment, increase their income or improve the quality of life.In order to get happiness, greenery and prosperity in the villages today, the success can be achieved only by connecting villages with the modern world market.Even in this advanced modern era of globalisation, liberalization and industrialization, agriculture  is India's core business.
